Ceremonial Matcha Milk Tea
Ceremonial matcha is sourced from the first harvest of green tea leaves and has the highest level of chlorophyll and L-theanine — the compound that is responsible for more sweetness and less bitterness.
I’m not going to lie though, I do enjoy the little bitterness that comes through in premium and regular matcha- it pairs so well with the added honey in my drink. But this preference comes from the girl who grew up eating bittermelon so… it’s up to you!
Boil and pour about a quarter cup into a glass
💦 1 cup (8oz) water, boiled to 175°F (or to Green Tea setting on an electric kettle)
Whisk matcha powder until dissolved and foam sits at the top
🍵 1/2 tsp ceremonial or premium matcha powder
Mix in
💦 Rest of the hot water
🍯 1/2 tbsp honey, to taste
🥛 2-3 tbsp oatmilk or milk, to preferred thickness
I prefer honey to sugar as it doesn’t leave a weird aftertaste in my mouth when I drink sweet things. Is that just me?
